Well of Tears: Visions of Healing
28 May - 30 May
Heartwood presents Well of Tears, Visions of Healing
This is a three-day yarning circle in collaboration with Arrernte Elder, Peltherre Chris Tomlins, Dreaming Australia, and Heartwood, Site for transformative Arts, Culture Science.
Well of Tears, Visions of Healing is a truth-telling with revered Elders who will speak to massacres of First People, the Frontier Wars and the on-going NT Intervention.
While these are the wounds this country urgently needs to heal, we can restore justice, create peace, live in respectful harmony, and build a future and find the right way to walk forward together. Together through truth, genuine understanding and full recognition of atrocities and the long-term consequences. ‘Now is the time for all Australians to come together and begin the healing.’
But first we need Truth.
It is beyond any doubt that this will be a long-term process and we can start now!
For an introduction to the yarning circle, listen here for this interview with Heartwood directors Iris Curteis and Hamish Mackay. he interviewer is Karla Riddell a young friend who works with women and young people with a focus on healing, often taking people into a desert setting.
