SUMMARY:Art as Revelation\, as Transformation
DESCRIPTION:The Breakthrough Experience as a Source of Inspiration and Renewal\n  \nArt … forms a bridge across the abyss. That is why art must realise that its task is to carry the spiritual-divine life into the earthly; to fashion the latter in such a way that its forms\, colours\, words\, tones\, act as a revelation of the world beyond. \nRudolf Steiner \n  \nThe word ‘revelation’ comes from ‘reveal’ or ‘to lay bare’. the reveal of a truth\, a spiritual reality\, a moment of revelatory significance. \nRevelation in art usually denotes some sort of spiritual or religious experience when viewing art in a gallery\, watching a play or listening to music.  \nBut in the life of an artist or viewer of art\, a revelation can also be a breakthrough experience for the mind and soul; a sudden opening of a door of understanding of art or themselves or the world beyond the everyday mundane; a breakthrough to inspiration and understanding in a way never before experienced.  \nIt is like shining a light in the interior of the soul to see something as if for the first time\, even though it was already there\, waiting to be seen.  \nSuch revelations in our artistic practice or in viewing art can lead to self transformation but also to see the purpose and role of art in the world in a completely new way.  \nThis webinar looks at the nature of revelation\, of thresholds\, of breakthrough experiences in artistic contexts and how they can be signposts on a path of transformation.  \n  \nThe 2nd lecture in the Art as a Spiritual Practice series\, itself part of the Art as a Path of Schooling for the Soul.  \n  \nWhen \n7pm AEST 27 June\, 2024 \nCost \nEntry by $20 donation \nHow to book \nBook Here! \nThe video recording of the webinar will be available after the event.  \nFor more information \nContact Fiona Campbell for more information.  \n  \n  \n  \nEvery genuine work of art bears witness to the experience of the threshold. \n  \nHerbert Witzenmann \n  \nFeature image: Threshold\, courtesy of Fiona Campbell \n  \n
