SUMMARY:Study group on Philosophy of Freedom
DESCRIPTION:Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path: A Philosophy of Freedom\n \nThis book is one of Rudolf  Steiner’s definitive texts and one that Steiner himself believed would have the longest life and the greatest spiritual and cultural consequences. It was written as a phenomenological account of the results of observing the human soul according to the methods of natural science.  \nReaders will not find abstract philosophy here\, but a step-by-step account of how a person may come to experience living\, intuitive thinking – the conscious experience of a purely spiritual content.  \nThe next meeting is 16 December but this is an ongoing study group meeting every fortnight at Rudolf Steiner House at 12:30pm. \nEveryone is welcome.

SUMMARY:Inner Work Module 1
DESCRIPTION:Inner Work provides a gateway to self-discovery and personal insight for parents and teachers dedicated to supporting the harmonization of a child’s individuality. \n\n\n\n\nThis mission requires a deeper understanding of self for the practitioner whose duty involves such a lofty goal. It requires a bridge to be built between insight and application in the art of educational methods that address the needs of a growing human being in a healthy way. \n\nThe over-emphasis of the intellect over our sensory nature is one of the challenges of modern education\, but by grounding our practice in our sensory wisdom\, contemplation\, and artistic reflection we can find a deeper understanding of our role as teachers and parents in the development of our communities’ children. The development of the intellect is grounded in the imagination\, but to reach this hallowed ground we must embark on a pilgrimage of inner work. \nOn this inner-work journey\, Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna provides a pathway of discovery towards a new art of education. A pathway where the very soul and spirit of all practitioners are nurtured\, stretched\, and celebrated as we move forward together for the sake of our world’s children. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to Participate \nThis journey will begin over five consecutive days for 90 minutes per day. Afterward we will gather together one day each week for four weeks for 90 minutes to deepen our understanding\, reflect\, and receive inner and outer homework for the coming week. \n\nfor more information\, click here \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP to Katherine Lehman \n\n\n\n\nPlease email any questions about time zone to Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna \n

SUMMARY:Five Big Questions about the Tricky Issue of Consciousness
DESCRIPTION:Perspectives on History & Human Consciousness: Past\, Present and Future\nA 6-week online workshop with Sydney Rudolf Steiner College \n  \nJoin our Steiner Education students as they ponder and debate five big questions about the tricky nature of human consciousness and its effect on the way we understand history. \nEach evening workshop will unpack one of these questions: \n\nWhat if people of the past saw the world differently from us? And how would we know?\nWhat does ‘evolving consciousness’ actually mean? And why is this concept central to Steiner philosophy?\nDo I really need to understand Steiner’s philosophy to teach in a Steiner School?\nCould myths and legends be more than just stories? What deeper secrets do they hold?\nWhat effect could computers have on our future consciousness? We don’t encourage their use in Steiner Education – do we need to rethink our stance on this?\n\nIf you have ever wondered about what you’ve read in Steiner works\, or are involved in a Steiner school\, or even just intrigued\,  join us for our online workshops where we unpack some of the big questions about our past and how they shape the possibilities of our future development. Whether your interest is Steiner Education or Steiner philosophy\, come and join in to the conversation. \nThis online course is led by Dr Fiona Campbell who has researched this topic for 25 years. Fiona has been a lecturer at Sydney Rudolf Steiner College since 1994 and combines her wealth of knowledge and experience in Anthroposophy and visual arts training with her studies about human consciousness and phenomenology.  \nBook now! \nCourse Dates: 9th & 16th June\, 25th August\, 1st September\, 13th & 20th October. \nVenue/Time: Zoom online 7:30pm to 9pm (Sydney time) \nCost: $200 including GST and reading materials. SUMMARY:Five Big Questions about the Tricky Issue of Consciousness
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to say our consciousness is evolving?\nWorkshop 2 of a 6-week online course with Sydney Rudolf Steiner College \n  \nJoin our Steiner Education students as they ponder and debate five big questions about the tricky nature of human consciousness and its effect on the way we understand history\, past\, present and future. \nIn the 1st session we unpacked the concept of ‘consciousness’ and how we have virtually lost our capacity for a participatory consciousness of our ancestors and replaced it with an abstract rationality that prefers to step back from the world and theorise about it. \nIn session 2\, we will follow up this discussion by asking: \nWhat does ‘evolving consciousness’ actually mean?
