SUMMARY:Working with Steiner’s epoch motifs as a schooling for the ordering of the soul-life
DESCRIPTION: \nThey ‘lead us to confront the greatest of riddles – that  of human destiny’ \nA series of 7 experiential webinars + weekend studio\n  \nImmerse yourself in this unique journey through our soul/spiritual development! From our primeval beginnings\, through Lemuria and Atlantis to today and into the 6th Slavic epoch\, we can capture something of the ‘quiver’ of recollections of spiritual history lying deep in our soul-life through working actively with these motifs. \n  \nWhat is it about? \nThis practice-based course explores Steiner’s Goetheanum ceiling sketches\, a sequence given to the painters as a picture progression of the spiritual history of humanity. He described them as a training in karmic vision that could potentially awaken a perception of karma. We will work with selected motifs through lecture\, study\, contemplative observation and drawing.  \nBackground notes \nRudolf Steiner created a substantial portfolio of drawings\, pastel sketches and paintings for the renewal of the visual arts\, many destined for the interior of the First Goetheanum\, with the purpose of helping us find a new relationship to art as a basis of spiritual awakening. The artforms in the first Goetheanum were intended to support a training in karmic vision through Art. \nArt works upon the human soul to awaken in it a feeling\, a deep feeling\, for the spiritual realities of what is portrayed. By actively working with these motifs\, we can approach an inner experience of their truths. Not only through the content but through the inward experience of them. By working actively with their forms and processes\, we can learn to transform the soul body so that it can prepare itself for karmic awakening. \nFor the ceiling of the first Goetheanum\, Steiner gave a series of ‘epoch’ motifs to the artists – 12 sketches for the large cupola of the first Goetheanum and 7 Sketches for the small cupola\, culminating in the motif of the Representative of Humanity. We will explore these motifs: their gestures\, meanings and role in our soul/spiritual evolution.  \nProgram  \n7 x 1.5hr webinars approx. twice a month on Saturday afternoons\, 4.00-5.30pm. \n12/2 Workshop 1: The Elohim motif from the Creation trio – completed\n26/2 Workshop 2:  Lemuria and Atlantis\n19/3 Workshop 3:  Ancient India – Ancient Greece\n2/4 Workshop 4:  The IAO motif: the Cosmic Word\n23/4 Workshop 5:  Faust and his Genius\n7/5 Workshop 6:  The Germanic and Slavic motifs\n21/5 Workshop 7: Lucifer\, Ahriman and the Representative of Humanity \nEach session includes a short lecture\, experiential artwork\, contemplation and discussion as the foundation of a schooling for the ordering of our soul life. The series culminates in an optional weekend studio where participants can turn their sketches and studies into artforms that reflect their personal relationship to the evolution of consciousness. \nEach session will be recorded and will be available for registrants. \nArt material list and background reading suggestions emailed at registration. \nWho is it for? \nFor students of Anthroposophy\, Steiner teachers\, artists and anyone interested in understanding Steiner’s approach to the spiritual evolution of humanity. \nBeginners in drawing are welcome. You do not need technical skills in the visual arts to find these workshops fruitful. These experiential workshops employ the anthroposophic approach to colour and process but the focus is on experiencing\, not learning drawing techniques. \nWhat dates are the workshops? \nSaturday afternoons 4.00-5.30pm AEDT (until it ends\, then AEST)\nWebinar workshops: 12/26 February | 19 March | 2/23 April | 7/21 May\nWeekend studio workshop: 3-5 June 2022 \nMissed most of the  webinars but want to join individual sessions? \nYou can still join us and catch up via the video recordings. SUMMARY:Working with Steiner’s Nine Training Sketches for Painters
DESCRIPTION:  \nA masterclass studio with artist Fiona Campbell\nThe Nine Training Sketches motifs were given to the painters as a new impulse for understanding both Art and Nature\, to help the artist explore objective spiritual laws. They are a training for the soul. \nYou are invited to join artist and researcher Fiona Campbell for an online masterclass (six sessions) as she works with these nature mood motifs in preparation for an exhibition. Paint alongside her and share in her process as she works through the series of nine motifs from rough sketch to finished artwork. \nYou don’t have to be a professional artist\, or even very experienced\, to enjoy this course.  \nWhat are the Training Sketches? \nSteiner gave a series of nine and seven motifs to the artists in the form of rough drawings\, as a foundation for the renewal of the art of painting. They were called training sketches\, but sometimes people wonder what it is they are training. They are not guides to technique\, nor are they supposed to be copied literally. They are not answers to what artworks of sunrises and trees and angels should look like. Rather\, they are a training for the soul. What does this mean? \nTheses nature mood sketches lead the painter towards an inward experience of each motif. This opens up the way to true moral and spiritual experiences. By learning to unite herself with the inner essence of these motifs\, the artist can reveal through her work traces of her soul experience of the cosmos. \nBackground information \nIn June 2022 it will have been one hundred years since the painter and sculptor Henny Geck asked Rudolf Steiner for a course that would bring about a renewal of the art of paining. To celebrate this event\, the Visual Art Section will hold an Intensive Week at the Goetheanum from 1-8 August 2022 and has invited artists to submit their work for the conference exhibition. Fiona has been working with the training sketches for 25 years and intends to submit works for the exhibition. SUMMARY:The Four Ethers and Universal Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Universal Beauty has the power to transform\nPresenters: Johannes and Sue Schuster \nAn online seminar over 3 alternate weekends \n  \nGreat works of art have the ability to affect us on such a deep level that we may suddenly experience tears of joy or even speechlessness. Great works of art all share a quality of timelessness which transcends their Age\, with an ability not just to awaken\, but with a  power to transform us. It seems that when such works of art touch on the good\, the true and the beautiful\, that they have ‘Universal Beauty.’ \nThis seminar explores the nature of Universal Beauty in connection with Nature’s language of form\, through the form signatures of the four elements\, the four ethers and the four connected physical forces. Together these form four polarities\, which Ernst Marti identified as Nature’s World Formula [1]  This ‘world formula’ gives us a profound insight as to how spirit connects with matter\, which is the key question for Transformative Art & Architecture. \nProgram \nOver three alternating weekends\, we will explore the question of how physical matter can be raised through art\, to resonate on a higher etheric level\, by employing the same vital life principles which nature uses. The point is not to copy nature’s forms\, but rather understanding the form signatures of her underlying forces. \nJohannes will explore the theoretic basis of the four ethers in morning lectures and discussions\, whilst Sue will take the afternoon art practice sessions in drawing and clay modelling. \nEnrolment details \nEnrol here! \nFor more information \nYou can find more information about this course\, including costs and program details\, here or contact  Johannes directly: 0414 724 587 \n  \n[1] Marti\, E.\, 2017. SUMMARY:What is Transformative Art & Architecture?
DESCRIPTION:This online free public lecture by Johannes Schuster introduces the concepts underlying Transformative Art & Architecture and precedes a three-weekend course on this topic.  \nThe question of Transformative Art & Architecture raises questions about the nature of ‘anthroposophical’ architecture: \n\n\nDoes it exist? Some well-known ‘anthroposophical’ architects think it doesn’t.\nIf it does exist\, what are its aims and methods?\nDoes the Consciousness Soul Age ask us to think differently about future forms of Art & Architecture?\nIf so\, what is the new Element of the Age and how are we to work with it as artists and architects ?\n\n\nOnline link to the lecture \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/84860687920?pwd=SS8vV0FaTXFVcVVNcmtGczEwZ21pZz09 \nMeeting ID: 848 6068 7920\nPasscode: 957659 \nFor more information \nFor more information\, check the flyer here or for details of the weekend course\, here or contact Johannes Schuster.

SUMMARY:The Spiritual Architecture of the Creative Process
DESCRIPTION:How the cosmic creative process is mirrored in nature and the human being. How we can practically use this to transform the world.\nA Transformative Art & Architecture (TAA) seminar  \nAn online 6-day seminar over three weekends from Saturday 30th October to Sunday 14th November 2021. \n  \nWhat is it about?  \nThis “Creative Process” seminar begins with the question of how spirit condenses into matter\, which is also how nature manifests her forms. From the human perspective however it is the other way round: if we want to transform the world\, we must learn how to raise matter up to spirit\, which is what the theory of Transformative Art & Architecture (TAA) is concerned with. The archetypal creative process therefore has a downward manifestation phase\, as well as an upward transformation phase. This is how spirit and matter interact to become one. \nRead the course program here. You can find also more information about the course on the flyer \nPresenters \nJohannes Schuster has been actively involved with Anthroposophy for over 30 years. He currently works as a Biosculptural-Architectural Consultant and adult education tutor. His special interest has been the study of etheric forces and how these become the mediating link between spirit and matter. This has been the basis of his interest and involvement with art and architecture. \nSue Schuster is an Art teacher with extensive experience in both main stream and Steiner Education\, from primary through to senior secondary levels. She has also been active in Adult Education and Steiner Teacher Training programs in Australia and overseas. \nYou can read more about Johannes and Sue here.  \nDates \n28 October 2021: free public lecture: What is Transformative Art & Architecture? \nSeminar Dates\n30-31 October 2021\n6-7 November 2021\n13-14 November 2021 \nCost \nThere are two rates: a discount rate for the full course and a weekend rate for those who prefer to pay in instalments.  \nDiscount rate for the full course \nProfessional:  $900 (3 x $300)\nConcession:    $675 (3 x $225)\nFor Students:  $450 (3 x $150) \nWeekend rate per weekend \nProfessional:  $350\nConcession:    $275\nFor Students:  $200 \nAl payments dues in advance by the preceding Tuesday.  \nHow to enrol \nFor enrolment form and registration information \nClick here. \n \nOr visit the Biosculputural Architecture website.  \nEnquiries: contact Johannes Schuster.  \n  \nImage: photo courtesy of Johannes Schuster \n  \n

SUMMARY:What is Transformative Art & Architecture?
DESCRIPTION:A free public lecture introducing The Spiritual Architecture of the Creative Process seminar\nThe Transformative Art & Architecture (TAA) Professional Development Initiative was founded by Johannes Schuster in 2017. \nThe aim of this initiative is to develop and promote an Anthroposophically based Theory of Transformative Art & Architecture\, which is based on the spiritual view of the human being and universe taught by Rudolf Steiner. The methodology arising from this theory is known as Biosculptural Architecture. Course participants may choose to do further study to qualify as Biosculptural Consultants. \nThe vision of TAA is for the forms of Art & Architecture to become forces for “Goodness\, Truth and Beauty” in the world. This vision takes its inspiration from Rudolf Steiner himself\, who in one of his lectures to the workers at the first Goetheanum\, spoke of the forms of Art & Architecture of the future as having the power to: \n\n… teach (human beings) how to love\, \n…. pour a spiritual fluid into hearts and souls….. \n…. turn evil into good…. \n                                 Rudolf Steiner\, “Ways to a new style in Architecture”\, 1914 \n\nHow to join the lecture\nNo need to register in advance. SUMMARY:What effect will digital technology have on our future development?
DESCRIPTION:We don’t encourage computer use in Steiner Education – do we need to rethink our stance on this?\nSydney Rudolf Steiner College presents Workshop 5 of this 6-week online course with Fiona Campbell \nJoin our Steiner Education students as they ponder and debate five big questions about the tricky nature of human consciousness and its effect on the way we understand history\, past\, present and future. \nIn the early sessions we looked back to humanity’s far past to understand the concept of ‘evolving consciousness’ and why this concept is central to Steiner philosophy. We then examined its role today in the foundations of Steiner Education.  \nNow\, in session 5\, we will follow up this discussion by looking to the future and ask: What effect will digital technology have on our future development? We don’t encourage its use in Steiner Education in primary years – do we need to rethink our stance on this? \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this workshop we will discuss the pros and cons of using digital technology in educational contexts and its implications for human development and our evolving consciousness. When we look to the far future\, what could be some of the consequences of our current immersion into the virtual world and our reliance on what it offers? \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo\, if you have ever wondered about ‘evolving consciousness’ in Steiner works\, or are involved in a Steiner school\, or even just intrigued\,  join us for our online workshops where we unpack some of the big questions about our past and how they shape the possibilities of our future development. Whether your interest is Steiner Education or Steiner philosophy\, come and join in to the conversation. \nThis online course is led by Dr Fiona Campbell who has researched the topic of evolving consciousness for 25 years. Fiona also has a Masters in Digital Media and Information Science and has taught digital technology skills for almost ten years. She has been teaching at Sydney Rudolf Steiner College since 1994 and combines her wealth of knowledge and experience in Anthroposophy\, information science and visual arts with her studies about human consciousness and phenomenology.  \nBook now! \nCourse Dates: 13th & 20th October.\nVenue/Time: Zoom online 7:30pm to 9pm (Sydney time)\nCost: For the cost of individual sessions please contact Jing Li \nContact Us\nFor more information\, click here or email Jing Li  \n \n

SUMMARY:The Actuality of Rudolf Steiner: An Interdisciplinary Exploration of Steiner in the 21st Century
DESCRIPTION:International Steiner Symposium\nRudolf Steiner wrote and spoke prolifically about a wide range of areas\, from social and political theory to philosophy\, from spirituality to ethics\, and from education to biodynamics. A common thread in this vast corpus of work was Steiner himself pointing out that everything he wrote and said was contextually bound by his experiences and surroundings.  \nThis invites the question: What can be learnt from Steiner’s works which can help us understand today’s society and our role within it? \nThis online symposium seeks to address this question through an interdisciplinary collection of papers and contributions dealing critically and constructively with Steiner’s work. As such\, it sits within the Institute for Education and Social Innovation’s (ibugi) broader research project of the same title: The Actuality of Rudolf Steiner. \n  \nWhat’s it about?  \nThe symposium is part of the broader ibugi project which opens a dialogue with Steiner’s ideas and discourses and investigates where and whether approaches to the topics such as Consciousness and Reality\, Gender and diversity\, Social justice and social innovation and Ethics can be found in his works.  \nAs part of an interdisciplinary research symposium\, the presenters do not claim to provide final interpretations and readings of Steiner. Rather\, they are interested multifaceted\, individual and creative perspectives in order to promote academic examination of research questions that seem relevant to today.  \nLocal speakers \nThe symposium is international\, with speakers and researchers from round the Anthroposophical world presenting on this theme\, through the lens of their own fields of expertise. From our local region\, Dr Neil Boland who is well known for his research into Steiner Education in New Zealand has a prerecorded paper titled The actuality of anthroposophy in the 21st century academy\, concerning anthroposophy as a path of knowledge which seeks to lead what is spiritual in the human being to what is spiritual in the cosmos\, and its visibility and status in the academy; and Dr Fiona Campbell\, who researches cognition and creativity\, is speaking about Goethean phenomenology as a cultural therapeutic for our times.  \nWho is it for?  \nThe symposium is for anyone who seeks to understand the challenges that are coming to meet us from the future\, for anyone who is open to new ideas\, to thinking freely and working together interactively in the fields of education and social innovation. \nThe symposium is also free and online so accessible to anyone. \nWhen: Oct 9\, 2021 – Oct 11. The symposium runs on Central European Summer Time (CET)\, so the opening lectures on the Friday night are in the middle of the night AEDT but the Saturday and Sunday lectures are accessible in the evenings. E.g. Fiona’s paper will be given at 11pm AEDT. \nWhere: Online. Holding the symposium online enables international contributions and participation. Recordings of some sessions will be available.  \nCost: Free \nRegistrations now open.  \nClick here to register

SUMMARY:Responsibility and Reciprocity Yarning Circle - postponed
DESCRIPTION:Responsibility and Reciprocity Yarning Circle postponed\nImagine a time before Pine Gap\, imagine First People holding a corroboree at Jessie Gap to welcome all children born on this continent – no matter where their parents came from – so that they are safe; so that they can belong and the old people can look out for them. Imagine the high cultural ethics and profound generosity of spirit it takes to carry this – to still welcome\, to be willing to share knowledge\, and teach ‘right way’ \nWe invite you to the Responsibility and Reciprocity Yarning Circle to meet local families\, learn about Arrernte culture from local elders on country and build an authentic understanding of the changes we need to make.  \nCost \n$400 per adult\, $100 for children over the age of 4. \nNeed more information?  \nRead the flyer\, go to the Heartwood website or contact Iris Curteis

SUMMARY:Therapeutic Art Training at Sienna Academy\, 2nd module
DESCRIPTION:The Sienna Academy promotes artistic and therapeutic painting courses that bring healing through working with the spiritual archetypes of light\, darkness and colour. Artistic mediums include water colour moist-on-moist and veil painting; charcoal\, pastel and pencil drawing. \nCourses weave together 3 main strands of teaching: developing the student’s artistic abilities; developing the skills to work therapeutically as a painting therapist and making more conscious the inter-connectedness of inner and outer colour world as a path of self- development. \nThere are daily lectures and discussion bringing alive insights given by Rudolf Steiner about the Human Being\, together with medical lectures and case studies to help each person to go on their own healing journey; a necessary prerequisite for being able to work effectively with others. The students own practise at home involves daily painting\, charcoal work\, observation exercises\, meditation\, study and written assignments. \nThe Post Graduate Training taught in Australia and China takes 3.5 years to complete. Students come together for two 4-week  blocks of training a year. In addition\, the course includes students’ independent work at home\, practicals essays and a Final Case Studies Work. \nFor more information\, see here \nDates for 2021\nApril 5 – 16            Carmine Red (past event) \nApril 19 – 30          Cobalt Blue (past event) \nSept. 20 – Oct. 1     Orange \nOct. 4 – 15               Turquoise \nOnline Modules \n(For students unable to travel)\nMarch 29 – 16       Carmine Red (past event)\nApril 19 –May 7     Cobalt Blue (past event)\nSept. 13 – Oct. 1     Orange\nOct. 4 – 22               Turquoise \nThe cost for on-site modules\n$850 each module (14 Modules)\nMaterials are not include in the cost. \nThe Post Graduate Training is accredited by iARTe (International Association of Anthroposophic Arts Therapies Educations – formerly European Academy)

SUMMARY:Enlivening The Script Within
DESCRIPTION:Developing a salutogenic approach to life through reconnecting to the World ether\nThe 2nd Etheric Geography webinar presented by the Stream of Life research group \n  \n\nInspired by our first webinar? \nLooking for ways to enliven and strengthen your own inner forces?  \nTo deepen your understanding of the dynamic nature of the World ether? \nThen join us for our 1-day intensive continuing the themes introduced in Reading The World Script. \nBut now we turn to human life: exploring how the forces and patterns of the Script work in our soul life\, in our thinking and in our own life body. \n\nWhat is it about?  \nThis intensive is more practice-based and interactive than the first\, as we workshop how to enliven the life forces within so as to be prepared to meet the challenges of today. By bringing the starry imaginations into our picture-making process with Martin\, learn how to enliven our thinking through experiential work with Fiona\, and then study the effects of these formative forces on our health with Irmhild. We will close the day with a contemplative healing ceremony. \nDo I have to have attended the first webinar?  \nNo\, the intensive is open to anyone and everyone interested in this theme. There are pre-webinar exercises that will only take a few minutes of your time to practice\, and some readings if you would like some background material to help provide you with some context. \nPreparing for the intensive – materials\, readings\, exercises. \nSo that the intensive can be interactive\, ensuring participants get the most out of the intensive\, a selection of exercises and readings will be sent out once you have registered. There is also a list of materials you will need to collect in advance\, to be used during Fiona’s sessions.  \nWill the intensive be recorded if I can’t attend that day? \nThe medical lecture will be recorded. However\, the contemplative healing ceremony and experiential work will not be recorded\, due to the nature of these activities.  \nWhat is salutogenesis?  \nSalutogenesis is a way of looking at health from the perspective of what does it mean to be a healthy human being\, as opposed to focusing on our pathologies. It uses physical\, soul and spiritual principles to understand the source of health.  \nEvent details \nWhen: 11.00 am -5.00pm AEDT\, Saturday 18th September 2021\nCost: $50 for the day plus registration fee. Fee includes 3 preparatory exercises to practice in advance. Hardship concession on request. \nProgram \n 11am-12.00pm  Welcome and Theme: Key Elements for a Moon Astrology with Martin Samson\n12-1pm Theme: Developing Water Thinking\, experiential work with Fiona Campbell \n1pm-2pm lunch \n2pm-3pm  Theme: Developing Water Thinking\, further experiential work with Fiona Campbell\n3pm-4pm Theme: How do I understand salutogenesis in relation to my own health? with Irmhild Kleinhenz\n4pm-5pm Ceremony: Contemplative healing work with Martin Samson \nPresenters  \nMartin Samson\, author\, poetic philosopher and theologian\nDr Fiona Campbell\, cognition and creativity researcher\, lecturer and artist \nIrmhild Kleinhenz\, Anthroposophic naturopath and integrative health consultant \nFor more information \nEnquiries: Martin Samson msamson@email.org.au\nClick here for more details about the program and the presenters \nREGISTER  HERE !

SUMMARY:Five Big Questions about the Tricky Issue of Consciousness: Theme 3
DESCRIPTION:Do I really need to understand Steiner’s philosophy to teach in a Steiner School? \nWorkshop 3 of a 6-week online course with Sydney Rudolf Steiner College \n  \nJoin our Steiner Education students as they ponder and debate five big questions about the tricky nature of human consciousness and its effect on the way we understand history\, past\, present and future. \nIn the 1st session we unpacked the concept of ‘consciousness’; in session 2\, we further explore what is meant by ‘evolving consciousness\, and why this concept is central to Steiner philosophy. \nNow\, in session3\, we will follow up this discussion by asking: \nDo I really need to understand Steiner’s philosophy to teach in a Steiner School?  \n\n\n\nWe will examine some core principles of Waldorf pedagogy in the context of consciousness and culture. It introduces Steiner’s cultural epochs and outlines their relationship to human development and the Steiner school curriculum. Some core assumptions of the Waldorf curriculum are examined in light of current pedagogical research. \n\n\n\nSo\, if you have ever wondered about ‘evolving consciousness’ in Steiner works\, or are involved in a Steiner school\, or even just intrigued\,  join us for our online workshops where we unpack some of the big questions about our past and how they shape the possibilities of our future development. Whether your interest is Steiner Education or Steiner philosophy\, come and join in to the conversation. \nThis online course is led by Dr Fiona Campbell who has researched this topic for 25 years. Fiona has been a lecturer at Sydney Rudolf Steiner College since 1994 and combines her wealth of knowledge and experience in Anthroposophy and visual arts training with her studies about human consciousness and phenomenology.  \nBook now! \nCourse Dates: 25th August\, 1st September\, 13th & 20th October. \nVenue/Time: Zoom online 7:30pm to 9pm (Sydney time) \nCost: $200 including GST and reading materials. A little pre-reading is advised. Articles will be emailed to you in advance. \nContact Us\nFor more information\, click here or contact Jing Li on 02 9261 4001
